Ram Mandir Inner Sanctum Participants: Who is allowed to ‘garbha grih’?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the highly anticipated consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir on Saturday afternoon.
The pran pratishtha ritual, conducted before over 300 special guests from religious, cultural, and political spheres, will imbue the 51-inch statue of the child deity Ram with sacred life force, completing the temple after decades of dispute.
Inside the garbha griha sanctum sanctorum, Modi will serve as the main patron of the ceremony alongside RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and Head Priest Satyendra Das.
At 12:29 PM, Modi will conclude the 84-second ritual by removing the idol’s blindfold, applying kajal with a gold stick, and showing Lord Ram his reflection in a small mirror to complete the awakening.
The pran pratishtha will transition into a magnificent Diwali-style ceremony as 108 lamps are lit around the mandir. The consecration caps 11 days of preparatory rituals that Modi has participated in across India. It also marks a major milestone for the Hindu Right after decades of fighting to build a Ram temple on the disputed Babri Masjid site.
