Alka Lamba Takes Helm of All India Mahila Congress, Varun Choudhary Heads NSUI

In a recent move, the Congress has appointed former Delhi MLA Alka Lamba as the new chief of its women’s wing, succeeding Netta D’Souza. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge concurrently named Varun Choudhary as the leader of the party’s students’ wing, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).

Alka Lamba, assuming the role of the All India Mahila Congress president, had previously been designated as a special invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in the past year. Her political journey commenced in her youth, securing the presidency of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) as an NSUI candidate in 1995.

Having briefly joined AAP in 2014, Lamba returned to the Congress fold in 2019. She successfully served as the MLA from the Chandni Chowk Assembly constituency in 2015.

The party acknowledged the noteworthy contributions of the outgoing All India Mahila Congress President Netta D’Souza and outgoing NSUI President Neeraj Kundan, as stated in a Congress release.
