Assam CM alleges Rahul Gandhi using Body Double in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

Amid an escalating verbal exchange with Rahul Gandhi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has made a startling assertion, claiming that the former Congress chief is employing a “body double” during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Referring to a media report, Sarma alleges that the visible Rahul Gandhi at the front of the bus is not the real one. According to Sarma, Rahul sits inside a compartment with space for eight persons, while his supposed “body double” sits at the front, waving at onlookers.

Sarma contends that the distant resemblance of the body double to Rahul Gandhi creates a perception that the Congress leader is actively participating in the Nyay Yatra, covering substantial distances on foot. However, as per the CM’s claim, Rahul is comfortably seated inside, enjoying tea and snacks with his close aides.

In a recent warning, Sarma suggested that Rahul Gandhi could face arrest after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Guwahati Police has initiated a suo motu FIR against Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders for alleged “wanton acts of violence.”

Rahul Gandhi’s Assam leg of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra covered a distance of 833 km across 17 districts, commencing on January 18 and concluding on Thursday. The shocking claim by Assam’s CM adds a new dimension to the ongoing political discourse surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide march.
