Ayodhya’s New Airport Set to Be Named ‘Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham
As Ayodhya gears up for the grand inauguration of the Ram Temple on January 22, 2024, the Uttar Pradesh government is laying the groundwork to christen the city’s new international airport as ‘Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the inauguration of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya on Saturday, a key event following the unveiling of the redeveloped Ayodhya railway station and the virtual flag-off of two Amrit Bharat and six Vande Bharat trains.
The first phase of this cutting-edge airport, developed at a cost exceeding ₹1450 crore, boasts a terminal covering 6,500 sqm, designed to cater to approximately 10 lakh passengers annually. The terminal’s facade elegantly echoes the architectural splendor of the upcoming Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Inside the terminal, intricate local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Lord Ram create a cultural ambiance. The sustainability features include an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountains in the landscaping, water treatment and sewage treatment plants, a solar power plant, aligning with GRIHA – 5-star ratings.
This airport aims to enhance regional connectivity, fostering a surge in tourism, business activities, and job opportunities. Prime Minister Modi envisions modern, world-class infrastructure for Ayodhya, balancing progress with the city’s rich historical and cultural heritage. The foundation stones for several upcoming projects will contribute to the city’s beautification and improved civic amenities.
