Delhi CM Kejriwal Sets Sails for Gujarat Amid ED Speculations and Political Maneuvering

Amid growing speculations about a potential arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to the alleged excise policy scam, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to kick off a two-day visit to Gujarat tomorrow. Having sidestepped three ED summonses, Kejriwal accuses the BJP-led Centre of orchestrating ‘political vendetta’ and leveraging central agencies for targeting Opposition leaders.

Originally planned for three days, the Gujarat visit has been condensed due to the Chief Minister’s commitment to holding a strategic meeting today with Finance Minister Atishi and other officials in anticipation of the upcoming budget session.

Accompanied by his Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal is expected to land at Vadodra airport tomorrow afternoon. His itinerary includes addressing a public gathering in Netrang and conducting a review meeting with party leaders ahead of the looming Lok Sabha polls at 7 p.m. tomorrow. Additionally, a meeting with tribal face and party MLA Chaitar Vasava is scheduled for Monday, as AAP gears up for the electoral battle.

In the 2022 state assembly polls, AAP made a mark in Gujarat, securing five comfortable wins. However, the party faced setbacks with MLA Bhupendra Bhayani’s departure last year. With Lok Sabha polls on the horizon, both AAP and the BJP are intensifying their preparations, strategizing key roles and responsibilities for the impending electoral contest.
