Edelweiss Mutual Fund CEO Radhika Gupta Joins Shark Tank India as New Judge, Shares Insights on Reality TV Impact

Radhika Gupta, the CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, has taken on a new role as one of the latest judges on Shark Tank India for its upcoming third season. Joining the Sharks from the previous two seasons, Gupta becomes the fourth addition to the panel, expressing her optimism about the Indian business market nurtured by reality television shows focused on start-up ventures.

In a recent revelation, Gupta emphasized how the exposure to reality TV has influenced her perspective, particularly taking the “constant hustle” as a key lesson from Shark Tank to implement in her position as the MD and CEO of Edelweiss. Notably, Gupta stands out as one of the first leaders in the financial services sector to assume the role of a judge on the show.

Clarifying that any investments made on the show would be in her personal capacity, Gupta shared insights on her commitment to promoting systematic investment plans (SIPs) on the Shark Tank sets. In an interaction with Moneycontrol, she pointed out that a significant portion of the audience remains unaware of mutual fund investments, highlighting the introduction of SIPs during the show.

Gupta’s experience on Shark Tank provided her with valuable observations, emphasizing the vibrant entrepreneurial energy emanating from tier I, II, and III cities in India. She noted the impressive growth of businesses led by young entrepreneurs, generating revenue in the range of 4-5 crores. Gupta also commended the rising confidence among women entrepreneurs and the prevalent sense of aspiration in the startup ecosystem.

Reflecting on her participation in the show, Gupta acknowledged the reinforcement of some of her existing learnings. She emphasized the significance of hustle, a value upheld by her fund house, and recognized the diverse range of consumer businesses flourishing in India, attributing it to the incredible array of consumers in the country.

In November, Radhika Gupta had earlier confirmed her role as a judge in the upcoming season of Shark Tank India, sharing the news on her social media handle alongside a picture with fellow judges.
