Evil Dead Burn Ignites Indian Box Office with a Promising Start, Raking in ₹4 Crore on Day One

The chilling and eerie realm of horror took a thrilling turn with the latest Hollywood offering, Evil Dead Burn, as it made a promising debut at the Indian box office. Helmed by the talented director Sebastian Vanicek, this spine-tingling spectacle managed to conjure Rs. 4 crore on its opening day, inclusive of the buzz-generating paid previews.

Kicking off with an intriguing start, the film pocketed around Rs. 75 lakh from previews alone, and then escalated to a solid Rs. 3.25 crore on its first Friday of screening. Notably, the film found its strongest foothold in South India, a region known for its warm embrace of Hollywood terror tales.

Given the current pace, Evil Dead Burn is poised to amass an impressive Rs. 13 to 15 crore nett over its debut weekend across Indian theatres. To put it into perspective, the previous installment in this spine-chilling franchise opened to Rs. 10.75 crore over the weekend, eventually scaring up over Rs. 39 crore during its total theatrical journey.

This year, Hollywood has been on a roll in India, with a slew of unexpected hits that have exceeded expectations and proven to be box office gold. Titles such as Project Hail Mary, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, Obsession, The Devil Weds Prada 2, and Michael have all captured audiences’ imaginations.

However, the momentum hasn’t been universal. Films like Toy Story 5 and Supergirl didn’t quite hit the mark, and Moana also struggled to find its feet. Now, anticipation builds around the release of Minions & Monsters and, of course, the unfolding saga of Evil Dead Burn.
