Former TRAI Chief RS Sharma Appointed to Tanla Platforms Board

Leading communications platform Tanla has named former TRAI Chairman RS Sharma as the newest member of its board of directors. This takes the total number of board members to 7.

Sharma headed the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) between 2015-2020. He pioneered major reforms around net neutrality and consumer rights during his trailblazing tenure.

Over the years, Sharma has spearheaded multiple key government technology initiatives. As head of the COVID vaccine roll-out, he led the development of vaccination portal Co-WIN. He also oversaw the implementation of healthcare schemes Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission while at the National Health Authority.

Tanla Founder Uday Reddy welcomed Sharma’s appointment, stating his visionary experiences make him an invaluable addition. Reddy said Tanla is excited to learn from Sharma’s “pioneering experiences and advice” as it eyes continued global success.

Sharma brings over four decades of administrative experience to Tanla, including serving as former Director General of Aadhaar-issuing body UIDAI. He holds a PhD in Public Policy from IIT-Delhi and degrees from UC Berkeley and IIT-Kanpur.
