Fuel Shortages Loom as Truckers Protest New Hit-and-Run Law Across India

Petrol pumps in several regions, particularly in hill stations and remote areas, face impending shortages as truckers launch a nationwide strike against the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The law introduces stringent penalties, including up to 10 years of imprisonment, in hit-and-run cases. Small towns and rural areas are already witnessing dwindling fuel supplies due to the strike, disrupting normal operations at petrol pumps.

The protest, triggered by concerns about the harshness of the law, has left oil tankers stranded, exacerbating the fuel crisis in various parts of the country.
