The announcement was made at the Fostering the Future Together Partnership event, hosted by First Lady Melania Trump. Google.org, in collaboration with Digital Promise, seeks to broaden opportunities for every learner by equipping educators with AI skills that can enhance classroom teaching. The initiative is part of a broader discussion on the future of education, focusing on how AI can be used effectively while keeping educators central to the learning process.
Earlier this year, Google.org revealed its plan to offer free, comprehensive AI training to all 6 million K-12 teachers and higher education faculty members across the United States. This initiative, developed in partnership with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), employs a “teachers teaching teachers” strategy. It emphasizes foundational AI skills, instructional judgment, and practical applications for various AI tools to aid lesson planning and improve productivity. Educators can engage with self-paced e-learning modules and earn recognized digital badges that reflect their ongoing dedication to professional development.
The funding from Google.org will enable Digital Promise to create scalable models and frameworks, facilitating access to high-quality, hands-on AI professional development for more teachers.
