Government Declares Ban on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in Jammu and Kashmir for Anti-India Activities

The government took a decisive step on Sunday, announcing the ban on Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir, a pro-Pakistan separatist amalgam. Home Minister Amit Shah, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, revealed that the organization has been engaged in anti-India propaganda and fostering terrorism in the Union territory.

Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the ‘Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, J&K (TeH) has been officially declared an ‘Unlawful Association.’ The group, previously led by the late Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and now succeeded by Masarat Alam Bhat, has been actively involved in forbidden activities aiming to separate J&K from India and establish Islamic rule.

Masarat Alam Bhat, known for his anti-India and pro-Pakistan stance, currently finds himself behind bars. The ban on his party, the Muslim League of Jammu Kashmir, was already enforced on December 27, as the government takes a strong stand against entities involved in activities contrary to the nation’s interests.
