Indian Airlines Maintain Flights Amid India-Maldives Tensions

Top Indian airlines have indicated they will not reduce services to the Maldives, despite escalating diplomatic tensions between New Delhi and Male.

Executives from carriers like Vistara and IndiGo stated they are closely tracking the situation but have no plans currently to cut back flights to the popular island destination.

“We have not cancelled any flights to Maldives so far and will monitor the demand,” said Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer Deepak Rajawat.

India’s largest airline IndiGo also affirmed it has not grounded any Maldives routes or seen cancellations from Indian travelers.

The statements come amidst fraying relations between India and the Maldives after the island nation signed a crucial trade deal with China. However, Indian carriers appear unfazed for now, keeping operations steady to the tropical tourist hotspot.

The companies say they will continue evaluating based on passenger traffic flows in coming days. But the aviation sector seems determined not to be cowed by geopolitical tensions.
