Kerala Government announces wage hike for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers
In a significant move, the Kerala government has declared a wage increase for over 60,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state. Finance Minister K N Balagopal, in the announcement, stated that those with over 10 years of service would witness a substantial increment of Rs 1,000, while others would experience a Rs 500 raise.
This decision is set to benefit a total of 60,232 workers in the Anganwadi sector. Currently, Anganwadi workers in the state receive a monthly salary of Rs 12,000, while helpers receive Rs 8,000. The revised wages will be applicable retrospectively from December 2023.
The state has 33,115 Anganwadis operating under 258 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), as detailed in the official statement. This wage hike aims to recognize and appreciate the valuable contributions of Anganwadi workers and helpers in Kerala.
