Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport has recently secured operational clearance from the Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA). Covering 821 acres, the airport is being developed in three phases and comes with several noteworthy features:
– Runway Specifications: The current 2,200-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway accommodates Airbus A320, ATR-72, and Bombardier private jets for take-off and landing during the initial phase.
– Expansion Plans: The second phase envisions international flights, requiring a runway expansion to 3,200 meters.
– Navigation System: Equipped with a Doppler Very High-Frequency Omni Range (DVOR) radio navigation system, aiding aircraft in determining their flight position and direction.
– Architectural Splendor: Costing ₹1462.97 crore, the airport showcases the ‘Nagara Style’ architecture, depicting the life of Lord Ram through scriptures. Lord Ram’s depictions adorn various airport levels.
– Symbolic Elements: A mural featuring a bow and arrow outside symbolizes Lord Ram’s enduring efforts. The airport’s landscaping is inspired by the five elements (Panch Tatva).
– Artistic Representations: The main building boasts seven pillars intricately representing significant episodes of the Ramayana. Two distinct types of mural plaques, ‘Daivik and Khandika,’ and a wall mural dedicated to Lord Hanuman enhance the cultural experience.
– Inaugural Flights: Starting January 11, daily flights between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya will commence. Additionally, on January 6, the first flight from Delhi to Ayodhya will take off. International flight operations will follow, connecting Ayodhya globally.
