Manipur-cadre IPS Officers Take Charge as Chiefs of Central Paramilitary Forces
On December 28, three distinguished Manipur-cadre IPS officers assumed leadership roles in central paramilitary forces, marking a significant development. Rahul Rasgotra, a seasoned Intelligence Bureau officer, has taken charge of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Meanwhile, Nina Singh has made history as the first woman to lead the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), where she currently serves as the Special Director General.
Nina Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer, has been entrusted with the additional charge of CISF DG since the retirement of Sheel Vardhan Singh on August 31, 2023. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved her appointment as the DG, CISF until her superannuation on July 31, 2024. Singh, originally from the Manipur cadre, later transitioned to the Rajasthan cadre.
Simultaneously, Anish Dayal Singh, a Manipur-cadre IPS officer of the 1988 batch, has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the largest paramilitary force globally. He has been holding this position in addition to heading the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) for the past few weeks. Anish Dayal Singh will lead the CRPF until his superannuation on December 31, 2024.
