Samsung Launches DualVent Over-the-Range Microwave for Enhanced Kitchen Ventilation
Samsung Electronics has announced the release of its new Over-the-Range Microwave, featuring the advanced DualVent technology, slated for availability in the U.S. and Canadian markets starting September 2026. This model integrates a sophisticated ventilation system with air intakes strategically positioned at the bottom and front of the unit, alongside features such as Auto Connectivity and a fingerprint-resistant finish designed to maintain a sleek, clean appearance.
Innovative Design with Enhanced Ventilation
According to Hyoung Min Park, Vice President and Head of the Customer Experience Team in Samsung’s Digital Appliances Business, the new microwave aligns with consumer demand for products that merge aesthetic design and practical functionality to enhance modern kitchen experiences. The implementation of DualVent technology exemplifies this by delivering robust ventilation capabilities within a streamlined form factor, optimizing spatial efficiency while making a stylistic impact.
Detailed Features of DualVent Technology
DualVent technology utilizes dual air intakes located at the bottom and front of the microwave to effectively capture cooking fumes across the cooktop surface. The front intake specifically targets the front burners frequently used by consumers, while the bottom intake addresses fumes from the entire cooktop. This design enables a fume capture rate of up to 82%, achieving ventilation efficiency comparable to Samsung’s standalone hood units under equivalent testing conditions.
Convenient Operational Control
The DualVent system is distinguished by user-friendly controls that require only a single tap on the LED-lit interface to activate. Upon activation, newly designed front blades open to enhance dual-intake performance and automatically close when ventilation is deactivated, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.
The microwave’s functionality is further enhanced by the Auto Connectivity feature, which synchronizes with compatible Samsung cooktops or range ovens via wireless technology. This allows consumers to simultaneously operate both appliances with one-touch controls, streamlining the cooking process.
- Performance data indicates an 82% capture rate, derived from chamber tests conducted at ICE&KS Pre-Development Lab on February 9, 2026, utilizing the CO2 tracer method as per LBNL (2020). The comparison involved two intakes and one exhaust versus standalone hoods under identical conditions. Performance may vary based on individual usage and installation specifics.
- Auto Connectivity is applicable only when used with certain Samsung cooktops or range ovens equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity. Each device must be connected to a Wi-Fi network and registered within the Samsung SmartThings App. The ventilation fan will auto-activate for safety if the product’s bottom temperature rises, taking precedence over Auto Connectivity.
