Zomato’s Record-Breaking New Year’s Eve: ₹97 Lakhs in Tips, Highest-Ever Orders

Zomato CEO, Deepinder Goyal, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an extraordinary achievement—India tipping over ₹97 lakhs to delivery partners on New Year’s Eve. The platform also marked an all-time high in daily orders, reaching a remarkable milestone. Goyal highlighted the monumental feat, revealing that Zomato delivered nearly as many orders on New Year’s Eve 2023 as it did in the cumulative six preceding years (2015-2020).

Bengaluru stole the spotlight by securing the top spot in booking events and reserving tables, while Maharashtra emerged as the state receiving the highest number of orders from outside India. A resident of Kolkata set a unique record by placing an order for about 125 items in a single go.

On December 31, 2023, Zomato’s rapid delivery service, Blinkit, achieved several milestones, including the highest-ever daily orders, orders per minute, and notable surges in soft drinks, tonic water, and chips. CEO Albinder Dhindsa also shared on X that the platform recorded the highest tips given to riders in a single day. According to Goyal, a staggering 3.2 lakh delivery partners served across both Zomato and Blinkit on this remarkable Sunday.
