Akash Ambani attends historic Ram Temple ceremony with wife
Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, arrived in Ayodhya on Saturday along with wife Shloka Mehta to attend the momentous Ram Mandir consecration ritual. They joined Prime Minister Modi and over 300 other prominent political, religious and business figures convening at the site of the new temple marking the climax of the decades-long Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
As he visited the Ram Janmabhoomi complex prior to the climactic pran pratishtha ceremony installing the deity, an elated Ambani told press, “This day will be written in the pages of history. We are very happy to be here.” His attendance caps off several days of pre-inauguration rituals across India dedicated to Lord Ram involving major industrialists.
The scion of oil-to-telecom conglomerate Reliance Industries continues his family’s long association with the development of the disputed Babri Masjid site into a revived Ram Mandir. Reliance Founder Dhirubhai Ambani donated funds supporting the temple construction effort in the 1990s. His son’s appearance today symbolizes the temple’s role as a cultural milestone for both Hindu nationalism and India’s corporate elite.
