Microsoft is rethinking its Copilot software to adapt to the changing nature of work, aiming to help individuals and organizations achieve more with AI. Today, the updated Copilot is being introduced, designed to link familiar tools with new capabilities for building, customizing, and scaling AI applications across various tasks.
The Copilot application now includes three innovative features: Home, Code, and Autopilot. ‘Home’ serves as the starting point, integrating Chat and Cowork, and providing the full functionality of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint within Copilot. ‘Code’ empowers users to create their own solutions, utilizing the same technology that powers GitHub Copilot. ‘Autopilot’ acts as a continuous, proactive personal assistant, functioning even when you’re not actively working. These features, Home and Code, are set to begin their rollout through the Frontier program in the upcoming weeks, while Autopilot will extend to a private preview later this month.
Additionally, new FinOps capabilities for AI are being introduced to help manage expenses and maximize the benefits from using Copilot and its agents.
By invoking @Copilot within Teams, your team gains access to shared context and permissions of the relevant channel, group chat, or meeting. If you inquire about a product decision, Copilot retrieves background information from various conversations, eliminating the need for repetitive explanations. When a decision affects manufacturing, packaging, and launch timing, Copilot offers to set up a comprehensive review, detailing dependencies, responsible parties, unresolved questions, and decisions, ensuring everyone understands how their tasks are interconnected and what remains to be addressed. This feature, @Copilot, will be available in private preview in Teams by the end of the month.
