ArcelorMittal Unveils Ambitious Plans for World’s Largest Steel Manufacturing Factory in Gujarat

ArcelorMittal, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Lakshmi Mittal, announced its ambitious project to construct the world’s largest steel manufacturing factory at Hazira in Gujarat by the year 2029. Mittal shared this groundbreaking revelation during the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
The planned factory is set to boast an impressive capacity of 24 million tonnes per annum, signifying a monumental leap in steel production. Mittal highlighted the significant progress by revealing that ArcelorMittal has already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Gujarat government for the second phase of the Hazira plant during the summit.
Recalling the initial groundbreaking ceremony, Mittal mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the ‘bhumi puja’ for the first phase of the plant in 2021. He added that the construction is progressing according to schedule, with commissioning expected in 2026. This ambitious venture reaffirms ArcelorMittal’s commitment to contribute significantly to the steel manufacturing landscape on a global scale.
