Ayodhya Witnesses Threefold Surge in Travel Interest Ahead of Ram Temple Inauguration

Ayodhya is experiencing a notable surge in travel interest, with a threefold increase in searches on the Agoda travel platform in anticipation of the upcoming inauguration of the Ram Temple. Data from Agoda reveals that, in conjunction with Varanasi, Ayodhya has witnessed nearly a fivefold rise in searches for check-ins on January 20, 21, and 22, 2024, compared to the corresponding period the previous year.

According to Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head – Holidays, MICE, Visa, Thomas Cook (India) Limited, the imminent inauguration has fueled significant growth in demand for Ayodhya. Agoda’s data indicates a remarkable surge of over 300 percent in searches for Ayodhya in December compared to October.

Kale highlighted the diverse customer base showing interest in Ayodhya, including families, businessmen, young individuals, and couples. He noted a shift from the historical trend where seniors were a key segment for pilgrimages, with the current demand reflecting an uptick from multigenerational families and couples, particularly for pilgrimage-plus tours.
