CBSE to hold Board Exams Twice a Year starting 2024-25: Report
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start conducting board exams twice a year for Classes 10 and 12 from the 2024-25 academic session. This major change in the exam format, first proposed last year, aims to reduce stress for students by giving them two chances to sit for exams if unsatisfied with their score on the first attempt.
According to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the first CBSE board exam session is likely to be held around November-December 2024, while the second will be in February-March 2025. The final result and merit list will be based on the best score obtained by students in either of the two attempts.
The batch of 2024-25 will be the first to experience the new system as a measure to alleviate exam pressure felt by students who currently get a single shot at board exams each year. Allowing two exam attempts caters to differences in individual preparation time and readiness. Officials believe it will make the process more flexible and student-friendly.
