SJVN Green Energy Inks Pact to Provide 200 MW Solar Power from Bikaner Project

SJVN Green Energy Ltd has finalized an agreement with Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPCL) to deliver 200 MW of solar power generated from its 1,000 MW Bikaner project in Rajasthan. As part of the IREDA Central Public Sector Undertaking scheme, SJVN, a state-owned entity, is implementing this solar power initiative through its subsidiary.

The ongoing Bikaner project, with a development cost of Rs 5,491 crore, adheres to the domestic content requirement mode. Anticipated for commissioning by April 2024, the solar venture has formalized a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) with UPCL.

Aligned with government objectives to utilize the generated power for public entities, either directly or through distribution companies, the project’s foundation stone was laid by President Droupadi Murmu in January 2023. The initiative is expected to yield 2,455 million units in the initial year and approximately 56,838 million units over 25 years, contributing to a significant reduction of carbon emissions by 27,85,077 tonnes.
