IndiGo Ceases Fuel Charge Collection in Response to Decrease in ATF Prices
IndiGo announced on Thursday that it has halted the collection of fuel charges on tickets, a move made nearly three months after the introduction of the levy in response to a surge in jet fuel prices.
The fuel charge, initiated by the airline in early October 2023, has been eliminated, effective from Thursday. IndiGo clarified that the withdrawal of the fuel charge is attributed to the recent reduction in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices.
In a statement, the airline noted, “As ATF prices are dynamic, we will continue to adjust our fares and components thereof, to respond to any change in prices or market conditions.”
Recognizing the substantial impact of fuel costs on operational expenses, IndiGo’s decision to discontinue the fuel charge aligns with the current market conditions and the dynamic nature of ATF prices.
