Imran Khan’s Nomination Papers Rejected for Punjab Seats Ahead of General Elections
In a significant setback for former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan’s top election body has rejected his nomination papers for two national assembly seats in Punjab province, setting the stage for the February 8 general elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rejected Imran Khan’s papers for Lahore (NA 122) and Mianwali (NA-89) seats. The rejection, based on objections related to Khan’s conviction in the Toshakhana case and discrepancies in proposer and seconder details, highlights the challenges faced by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder.
Despite the suspension of Khan’s sentence, his disqualification remains in effect.
