MS Dhoni files criminal complaint alleging ₹15 Crore fraud by former business partners
Former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has lodged a criminal complaint against his ex-business associates in a sports firm, accusing them of defrauding him of over ₹15 crore by violating a 2017 business deal. The complaint, filed in a Ranchi court, names Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas of Aarka Sports and Management Limited.
Reportedly, Diwakar had entered into an agreement with Dhoni in 2017 to establish cricket academies in India and overseas under the cricketer’s name. However, the complaint alleges that Diwakar failed to adhere to the specified conditions in the agreement.
Aarka Sports was obligated to pay the franchise fee and share profits as per the agreement, but the terms were allegedly breached. Despite the revocation of the authority letter on August 15, 2021, the partners continued setting up academies and sport complexes without Dhoni’s consent or financial contributions.
Dhoni’s lawyer, Dayanand Singh, claims that the firm’s actions resulted in a loss exceeding ₹15 crore for the former captain. The sports firm’s website, prominently featuring MS Dhoni’s photo, states that it specializes in athlete and player management, offering top-class consultancy. Diwakar is identified as the managing editor, with the website asserting that Dhoni serves as a mentor in the company.
