Former Indian swing bowler Praveen Kumar has made a startling claim regarding the narrative surrounding his premature international career end. Kumar alleged that an unnamed senior player deliberately created a bad image of him within the team.
“When I was in the Indian team, seniors said ‘don’t drink, don’t do this, don’t do that,'” Kumar told The Lallantop. “But everyone does it. They tarnished me saying ‘PK drinks.’ Everybody drinks.”
When asked if legends like Tendulkar, Dravid or Ganguly were among those who advised him, Kumar replied: “No. I don’t want to name the person on camera. Everyone knows who bad-mouthed me.”
Hailing from Meerut, Kumar played 6 Tests, 68 ODIs and 10 T20Is between 2007-2012. He excelled as a swing bowler and handy batter before issues off the field reportedly cut short his promising career.
Kumar represented IPL franchises like RCB, KXIP and SRH as well. He now claims a senior player deliberately created a false narrative that he had drinking issues.
“Those who know me personally know how I am. A bad image of me has been created,” Kumar stated.
