New Zealand Cricket Boosts Squad with Key Returns Ahead of T20I Series Against Pakistan

In preparation for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, New Zealand Cricket is set to reinforce its squad with the return of several key players. Opening batsman Devon Conway, rested during the Bangladesh series, will make a comeback. Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, recovering from an Achilles injury, is slated to rejoin for the final three games, while the much-anticipated return of Matt Henry, who suffered a hamstring injury during the World Cup, adds depth to the team.

However, the 25-year-old fast bowler Ben Sears will be available for only the first two games, making room for Lockie Ferguson’s return. Notably absent from the squad are Kyle Jamieson, recuperating from a hamstring injury, and Michael Bracewell, still on the mend from an Achilles injury. Trent Boult and James Neesham are also not included due to their T20 commitments.

Head coach Gary Stead emphasized the significance of these matches in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup. “With just three T20I series left before the T20 World Cup, all matches are vitally important for our preparation. It’s great to be welcoming back Matt, Devon, Lockie, and Kane. They’re four quality players in their own right, and their skills and experience will bolster our side.”

The first game of the five-match series is eagerly anticipated.
